Vitamin and mineral supplements in pregnancy include folate, iron and
multivitamins. Patterns on the use of vitamin E supplementation during pregnancy
are not well described.
Key messages
The available evidence suggests that Vitamin E supplementation might help to
reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia and intrauterine growth retardation.
Further well-conducted research is required to determine the effects of vitamin
E supplementation during pregnancy, particularly in settings with low
dietary intake of vitamins.
