El Dr. Ezequiel García Elorrio participated as an expert in the “Global Consultation – A Decade of Patient Safety 2020-2030: Formulating Global Patient Safety Action Plan”, organized by the Patient Safety and Risk Management Unit, WHO Integrated Health Services. During the meeting, which took place in Geneva, a global action plan for patient safety was discussed and defined.
We worked on the following objectives
- Define the vision, mission and scope of the Global Patient Safety Action Plan, for a roadmap for “A decade of patient safety: 2020-2030”;
- define guiding principles and strategic objectives;
- translate the operational paragraphs of the resolution into an operational plan:
- prepare the list of actions for the WHO, international organizations,
- develop global SMART patient safety goals linked to strategic objectives;
- solicit input from all stakeholders and key partners on the draft Global Patient Safety Action plan,
- define deadlines and responsibilities for various actions;
- discuss the resource mobilization plan for activities;
- Develop an accountability and monitoring framework for the action plan
- Develop the global campaign, including the theme and slogan for World Patient Safety Day 2020
