The IECS at the international seminar “Towards the creation of an AGNET in Argentina”

The IECS, in its role as Scientific Secretariat of the Policy Forum of the International Society for Health Technology Assessment (HTAi), participated in the international seminar “Towards the creation of a National Agency for Health Technology Assessment (AGNET) in Argentina”. The event, which took place at the Cultural Center of Science on May 2, brought together more than 400 people, members of PAHO, representatives of public and private hospitals, social security representatives, personalities from the academic world and members of scientific societies.

Andrés Pichon-Riviere and Federico Augustovski, directors of our Health Technology Assessment and Health Economics department, had an active participation. The first spoke about the link between the Health Technology Assessment (ETESA) and decision-making on the allocation of health resources: results of the Policy Forums in Latin America. He also coordinated the panel “Towards the creation of a National Health Technology Assessment Agency in Argentina.”

For his part, Augustovski was one of the speakers on the panel “ETESA Experiences in Argentina”, an instance in which he talked about the work that the IECS has been carrying out in this matter, the methodologies used and the challenges faced by those who carry out this task in our country.

Among the speakers at the seminar were experts from HTAi, the director of the Canadian STD agency (CADTH), representatives of the Colombian agency (IETS), academics from CONICET and national health officials from Argentina and Chile, among others.
