Cigarette boxes will change in Chile

In Chile the cigarette boxes will change. They will have new photographs and also written health warnings that will allow the population to become more aware of the health consequences of tobacco consumption. This is a measure aligned with WHO directives, an entity that promotes the introduction of health warnings and plain packaging as a fundamental measure to reverse the smoking epidemic.

The IECS celebrates this health policy and is proud to have strengthened the scientific evidence that supported its implementation. Indeed, an IECS study that was taken into account by Chilean health ministry authorities was able to determine that in that country tobacco is responsible for 19 thousand deaths per year, 38 thousand cardiovascular events and more than 8 thousand cancers, among other events. .
