The Department has published more than 120 scientific articles in the last 5 years

Our projects and publications, published in peer-reviewed journals, focus on finding new ways to prevent, diagnose, treat and manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer. Also, mental health and healthy aging are important lines of our department.

Contributions to Global Health

IECS and WHO work together to improve care for high blood pressure.

We collaborate in the preparation of the Guide for the Pharmacological Management of Arterial Hypertension, launched by the WHO in 2021, with the aim of creating practical recommendations for its implementation in various contexts.

IECS leads international projects to improve care for people with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases

Since 2020, we have led two projects that aim to improve the prevention, detection and comprehensive management of diabetes with the World Diabetes Federation (WDF), and cardiovascular diseases with Harvard University.
