Andrés Pichon-Riviere is an Argentine doctor and researcher with an outstanding career in public health and health technology evaluation. Graduated with honors in Medicine from the University of Buenos Aires and with a master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology from Harvard University, he also has training in economic evaluations and disease modeling at universities in the United Kingdom.
Currently, he is general director of the Institute of Clinical and Health Effectiveness (IECS) and director of the Department of Health Technology Assessment and Health Economics. In addition, he is a professor of Public Health at the UBA Faculty of Medicine and has held vice president roles in international technology evaluation networks.
Recognized for his influence in the field, he has received the Global Health Leadership Award from the Global Health Research Initiative and has coordinated academic projects and research in cooperation with governments and international agencies. His research focus is on health resource efficiency and impact assessment of medications and health programs, highlighted by his research on smoking in Latin America, which earned the IECS a WHO award in 2018.
He published more than 500 health technology assessment documents indexed in the Center for Reviews and Dissemination at the University of York, as well as more than 50 scientific articles in international journals indexed in Medline.
