The impact that ALS has on patients and their environment
The Qualitative Health Research Unit was selected to carry out a qualitative study on the illness experience in people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and informal caregivers. The project was financed by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Esteban Bullrich Foundation.
Adherence to oncological treatment in breast cancer during the pandemic
The IECS conducted a qualitative study to identify the barriers and facilitators for adherence to oncological treatment in breast cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study was based on semi-structured interviews with 40 women undergoing oncological treatment for breast cancer. It was funded by the National Cancer Institute (INC).
We have experience in various qualitative approaches, using interview techniques, focus groups and non-participant observation. Our team specializes in the use of analytical frameworks in implementation research; such as formative research to understand complex contexts to design behavior change strategies, process and outcome evaluations to understand how subjects adapt interventions to their contexts. We carry out stakeholder dialogue dynamics and consensus methods for decision making. As a transversal unit, we collaborate with other IECS teams.
