Mother and Child Health Research
Research Projects
Our team has led or participated in the design and conduction of 16 multicentric clinical trials or prospective observational studies in maternal and perinatal health since 1990. These studies have included more than 250,000 women who gave birth in more than 40 hospitals and 100 communities from several developing countries and have addressed major maternal and perinatal health problems, including preterm birth. These studies involve enrolling women early in pregnancy, at delivery, and following them up after discharge up to 7 years postpartum; collecting high quality data complying with GCP; and collecting, processing and storing biological samples like maternal and cord blood, urine, and saliva. For illustration, we briefly describe a few of our ongoing and previous studies.
