New interns at MyN

Buenos Aires November 27, 2018 – We are pleased to welcome Gabriella Farland and Allison Voorhees, students of the University of Oregon and the Tulane University respectively, who will work for a month with the team of researchers from the Department of Research in Mother and Child Health on the ESI App project, a mobile application that they are developing based on the contents of the Comprehensive Sexual Education law (ESI).
Why did you choose to come to IECS?
Gabriella: “I'm interested inMuch about global health and how cultures are an important aspect in the knowledge, formulation, and then implementation of health services, programs, and policies. I would like to contribute to the mission of the IECS and generate knowledge about sexual and reproductive health in Argentina. I want to investigate more about the cultural factors that influence the access, implementation and effectiveness of comprehensive sexuality education and how we can improve some factors such as unintentional teenage pregnancy through the ESI App. I am convinced that it will be a very enriching experience for my training as a worker in the public health field.”
Allison: “I was interested in working with an international organization that is dedicated to research and learning more about projects that are at the forefront of public health concerns. I am very excited to work with the team and feel that it will be a very interesting stage ”.
