Objective:

Provide advice to adapt the response of the local health system to the COVID-19 epidemic in order to achieve the best health results in the province of Corrientes.

Summary:

The project was developed in three work components. 1) Adaptation of an epidemiological model for health impact assessment and resource estimation to address the evolution of the epidemic in the province. For this, dynamic transmission models were adapted that allowed estimating the expected number of cases and the need to use resources in different scenarios/times of the expected evolution of the epidemic in said province. 2) Preparation and adaptation of the provincial health system for an adequate response to the epidemic, which included, among other activities, analysis and advice on the adaptation/development of prevention/action and response protocols against COVID-19 in different areas of health services. 3) Implementation of an effective and efficient method of case identification, investigation and contact tracing to control the epidemic. In addition, training was carried out for health teams and information was collected through secondary sources and interviews with key actors.

Financing: Ministry of Public Health of Corrientes.
