Goal

Validate the Spanish version of the MSAS tool that evaluates symptoms in children with cancer.

Brief/Summary

The project aims to contribute to the validation process of three versions of the MSAS scale in Spanish for Latin America (MSAS 7 to 12 years, MSAS 13 to 20 years, and MSAS proxy). The study is currently being developed in two institutions in Argentina and will begin shortly in 4 centers in Central America. This is a cross-sectional, mixed methods study. In the six centers it is estimated to recruit a total of 300 child/adolescent + father/mother dyads. The aim is to determine if the Spanish version has conceptual equivalence with the original; The observed pattern of use will be described (missing items, floor effect, ceiling effect), and the understandability, acceptability and feasibility of using the MSAS in clinical practice as a self-administered and self-reporting tool. Construct validity will be evaluated through testing several hypotheses.
