Context
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a leading cause of death worldwide, with more than 4.500 preventable deaths daily.
People with TB face multiple barriers to treatment adherence, such as stigma and lack of education about the disease and its treatment and medication side effects.
What is the study about?
The TB-TST study is a pragmatic two-arm randomized controlled clinical trial (RCT), which seeks to develop, implement and evaluate an interactive mobile application.
This application is designed to accompany people with TB, monitor treatment adherence and evaluate its impact on clinical outcomes.
Who is the mobile application intended for?
TB patients on self-administered treatment and healthcare providers (e.g. a TB nurse) so that they can interact with people with TB, assess their progress and provide additional support to those who require it.
The experience and satisfaction of the participants with the tool and the care will also be explored.
