La Carlos Slim Foundation recognizes organizations that contribute with innovative and efficient alternatives in public health for the population of the region, and that are distinguished by their sensitivity to identify the most relevant care needs, their vision of who should receive care, the quality with which it is provided and its resolution capacity.
Our general director, Dr. Andrés Pichon-Riviere, expressed his excitement for this extraordinary achievement that recognizes the work of all the people who are part of the IECS, each one from their place, always seeking to contribute with evidence and impacts on public policies to achieve more equitable and effective health in our country and in the region.
The Carlos Slim Prize in Health has been awarded to other prestigious institutions over the last decade, including the Drugs Initiative for Neglected Diseases Latin America (DNDi Latin America), based in Brazil; the Foundation Center for Infectious Studies (FUNCEI), from Argentina; the Central American Network of People with HIV (REDCA+) of El Salvador; the League against Cancer of Peru; and the Salvador Zubirán National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition, in Mexico.
