
María José Varco
María José Varco holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Master's degree in Public Finance from the National University of La Plata (UNLP), where she is currently completing her Master's thesis in Economics. She also completed a Diploma in Data Analysis Applied to Public Policy Development from the Guillermo Brown National University (UNaB).
She works as a researcher in the Department of Health Technology Assessment and Economic Evaluations at IECS, where she participates in projects on economic burden, budget impact, cost-effectiveness, and primary data analysis.
She has worked as a technical assistant at the National Directorate of Health Economics of the Ministry of Health since 2020, focusing on the analysis of health expenditures and the pharmaceutical industry. She coordinated the team responsible for monitoring drug prices and prepared monthly reports on their evolution. She also actively participated in research, with a strong focus on working with databases for information processing and analysis, conducting bibliographic searches, developing methodological proposals and survey instruments, and producing reports on health economics.
