Summary:

Within the framework of the Financial Assistance Projects IV of the National Cancer Institute, the IECS carries out a study that aims to design a peer mentoring strategy to increase colorectal screening (CRC) coverage in the public health system of Argentina and evaluate the feasibility of its implementation. The main component of the intervention will be the identification and training of peers who can act at the community level to improve adherence to CRC screening practices. The peers will be people from the community, users of the health center, who have already undergone screening for CRC with a fecal occult blood test and who are willing to share their experience with other members of the community and collaborate with the health team. in promoting CRC prevention. People from the community who belong to the target population of the screening will be included as participants in the feasibility study. Within the 3-month follow-up period, the degree of acceptability of the peer mentoring strategy will be assessed, as well as identified barriers and facilitators to implementation. It is expected that this study will contribute to the generation of new tools for improving cancer prevention practices.
