We are 20 years old

“These two decades are a milestone that invites us to value everything we have done until now and everything we want to be or continue to be from now on,” says Dr. Andrés Pichon Riviere, executive director of the IECS.

With 20 years of age, the IECS is a national and international reference organization in the generation of knowledge through clinical and health research; in promoting the use of scientific evidence, the participation of users, patients and the general population in health decision-making. Also in the training of human resources in a world in which health and rigor in research have achieved unprecedented recognition and attention.

The founding act of the IECS was signed in July 2002 and its The first office, with just two employees, was at the UBA School of Public Health.  Since then, it has been transformed into a more mature and professional institution, with more than a hundred researchers, scholarship holders and support staff, whom we always thank because they make up valuable human capital that has accompanied us with marked loyalty and commitment throughout. throughout these years.

In 2021 alone, members of our organization have led or participated in 134 projects in 30 countries, including everything from preparation and response models of Latin American countries against the COVID-19 pandemic to the construction of value frameworks for diagnostic technologies, the identification of barriers to pain relief in children with cancer or prevention of transmission of Chagas from mother to children.

Special celebrations have their own image

For this unique year, we have developed a special logo, which combines the richness of our history with projection into the future and will be present in communications throughout the year.

“We did a lot, but we have the aspiration to continue innovating and growing. And let this celebration be the launch platform that allows us to capitalize on the experience of two decades in new projects and challenges,” summarized Dr. Pichon Riviere.
